Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

This week for our EoC, we need to talk about the videogames and our views on the matter of them having a large decline in the industry.

I don't like console games at all. I don't play them. I don't enjoy them. I hate having to use a controller. I play on a PC that I have bought over 130 games for via an application called Steam. Even though I have played all of these games for maybe a month or so, I have the ability to play them again when I feel like it.

As far as consoles are concerned, I don't see them going very far in the future despite new games coming out to keep people interested. When you go to a friends house and you play on their console, whether it is an XBox or a Playstation product, it doesn't matter. If you run out of games, what do you do? Watch tv? A movie even? These consoles are pretty much just expensive DVD (Blueray) players when you think about it. CNN's Blake Snow says that, "If console gaming were a first-person shooter, it would be taking heavy fire right now. A red hue would envelop the viewable screen from all sides, an ominous sign of spilled blood."

Games nowadays don't make people stick with it. Whether it is a lack of story, or objective, I don't know.  Martha C. White with Time Magazine says, "Sales of consoles in the U.S. dropped 21% in 2012 to just over $4 billion, and figures from the manufacturers of the three top systems were lackluster over the crucial holiday season. " All I know is that something needs to change or else consoles will be a thing of the past, and personally, I could care less. I am a PC gamer, so I can play my games at a higher quality and have faster frames per second, so I'm happy.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

I have a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle that only has a 10 gallon tank, so I go to the gas station pretty often to fill it up. Aside from getting gas, I also get drinks every now and then.

Whenever I go to the 76 station, the employee at the counter always knows me. Seeing how I go every two or three days, they can't help but remember, and my last name being Street helps them to remember as well. They are always nice to me and not having to show my identification with my goofy picture is always a plus.

I guess in retrospect, I am treated like I am welcome there, and they know me, so not having to show my i.d. is a plus when having to use my debit or credit card. Also, the 50 cents I save when filling my tank is a plus.

I know it isn't much of a story, but I can't really remember any good experiences at stores or anything like that. When I go to other stores, I ask where something is, and I buy it.

I've been sitting here trying to remember a time that I can write about good customer service. Not just good customer service like; hey I need something, let's go get it, oh hey it's here, and buy it. Ten points! No.

My god. I just remembered. I was at Universal Studios with my parents and our family friend came over to the restaurant we were at, but she had a friend. It was her boyfriend that she wanted us to meet. Turns out, it was his birthday! Unfortunately, he didn't want a song to be sung or anything of the sort, but we talked to our waiter and he made it happen.

When we talked to the waiter, we made it clear that our new friend didn't want a party and anything of the sort to happen, so we wanted to be obnoxious and do it anyways because we are mean like that. Some will call it hazing, but we had to do it if he was going to be our new friend.

Some time went by and the waiter came back and gave our friend a cake. The waiter got everyone together and screamed at the top of his lungs; WE GOT A BIRTHDAY IN THE HOUSE!! Our friend was BRIGHT RED.

The waiter went all out! It was amazing! He yelled the song at the top of his lungs, and danced his heart out. It could easily be said to be the funniest and most amazing birthday celebration in a Bubba Gump or any other restaurant in the history or restaurant birthday songs.

Needless to say, or new friend was very upset and bright red, and wanted to leave right away. We all had a blast during the celebration, and the waiter did too. That day, our waiter got a $100.00 tip.

Fundamentals of Marketing

This is my first post for the quarter! I am really only making this so that there is a starting point for the class because Mr. Pinto likes to use Twitter and Google's blog option.

I can't really remember why, but it is a pretty neat way of completing the class. Although some might not enjoy the use of blogger, or twitter, allowing various people from any and all sources to be able to read it at their leisure, in the end, it doesn't really matter, because what's worse than having random people read your work? You guessed it, your boss. So i guess all I really got to say at the moment is suck it up. It isn't the end of the world! Take the time to do this part, including the Twitter portion, correctly so that you don't run into any larger obstacles in the future regarding the subject.
