EoC Week 10 UVP

Here are three slogans I know can work with my Wasabi Sunflower Seeds product.

Feel The Burn - People buy this product because they enjoy the taste and spiciness of Wasabi. Why not have a slogan that enhances that need?

Try It, You'll Like It - Some people have trouble trying new things. I would use this in the hopes that it will entice people to give it a try. 

Behold, The Spice - I like it because it reminds me of the movie Dune, and I really liked it.

Implementation Evaluation Control

  1. Commission a copywriter for the product brochures, displays and new website content.
  2. Commission design and production of three pull-up displays and brochures.
  3. Update website product profile pages and home page.
  4. Create a daily roster for Facebook updates on product profiles.
  5. Book a few advertisements in the regional newspaper.
  6. Get a few kiosks at liqueur stores and bars.

Marketing Strategy

Target Market Strategy
"Sound marketing is critical to the success of every organization. Large for-profit firms such as Procter & Gamble, Google, Target, Toyota, and Marriott use marketing. But so do not-for-profit organizations such as colleges, hospitals, museums, symphony orchestras, and even churches." as it says in chapter 1. My strategy to get this product to our main target market is to creates friendships with the companies before hand. Knowing people can be extremely profitable. Making friends with the owner of a popular bar would be great. After you had made friends with your business, get them to hold your product for a week. After the week is over, you can get your stats needed to make changes to the product if needed. From there, you can move on to bigger fish once you get your product fine tuned.


Product
The product is fantastic. Wasabi Sunflower Seeds! I have seen Wasabi Peas and my mother enjoys them quite a bit. That is actually what moved me to create this product. Wasabi is a great pairing product. It has a great spiciness to itself that only lasts for a short time compared to salsa and peppers is general. What is even greater is that it is paired with sunflower seeds. The heat goes away from the wasabi to give you enough time to enjoy the taste of the seed. We could also partner up with companies such as Frito-Lay to provide different flavors as well. "Market segmentation involves dividing a market into smaller segments of buyers with distinct needs, characteristics, or behaviors that might require separate marketing strategies or mixes." as it says in chapter 6


Distribution
"Suppliers form an important link in the company’s overall customer value delivery system. They provide the resources needed by the company to produce its goods and services. Supplier problems can seriously affect marketing." as it says in chapter 3. Distribution would consist of companies such as local bars and liqueur stores. I would start off here in Vegas and if the product does well here, I can broaden my horizons. "The world is shrinking rapidly with the advent of faster communication, transportation, and financial flows. Products developed in one country have found enthusiastic acceptance in other countries." as it says in chapter 15. I would have to hire trucks at one point as the product gets more and more popular, but with sales doing well, I wouldn't have to worry about shipping costs.


Promotion
To promote the product, I would have a commercial. It would be a western theme with an addition of an inner monologue for the cowboy. The main character would walk into the bar and sit next to a Japanese man eating sushi. The cowboy would talk about how he has his sunflower seeds and one fell into his wasabi. After picking up the seeds from the wasabi and eating it, he would go on about how great it is. "Most companies still use direct marketing as a supplementary channel or medium. Thus, Lexus markets mostly through mass-media advertising and its high-quality dealer network but also supplements these channels with direct marketing." as it says in chapter 14. It doesn't make too much sense, but it gets the point across and would be a good laugh.


Price
"The American consumer market consists of more than 300 million people who consume more than $14 trillion worth of goods and services each year, making it one of the most attractive consumer markets in the world." as it says in chapter 5. As far as price is concerned, it wouldn't be too expensive. I have been thinking about prices and have come to a conclusion to about $1.37 with tax. It gives the customer enough money to buy 3 with a five dollar bill, most likely increasing sales. "Consumers have many concerns about how well the American marketing system serves their interests. Surveys usually show that consumers hold mixed or even slightly unfavorable attitudes toward marketing practices." as it says in chapter 16. My goal would be to fix this as much as possible. "Thanks to the weakened economy, the pricing power of the Internet, and value-driven retailers such as Wal-Mart, says one analyst. 'These days, we’re all cheapskates in search of a spend-less strategy.' In response, it seems that almost every company is looking for ways to slash prices." as it says in chapter 9. We could also have prices set to a lower price for promotional reasons.

SWOT Analysis

Now I understand that there isn't much here, but I couldn't think of much for here.  My product is just so flawless.


Strengths
  • Being part of the Phileas Fogg product line.
  • This product is new and exciting.
  • Has a great commercial that introduces the product in a familiar way to viewers.

Weakneses
  • Being part of the Phileas Fogg product line.
  • The product is new! People will be hesitant at first, but who isn't?

Opportunities
    • "Producing a product or service and making it available to buyers requires building relationships not just with customers, but also with key suppliers and resellers in the company’s supply chain." as it says in chapter 10. Partnering with companies such as farms and bars.

    Threats
    • Being new in the market.
    • Reliant on businesses  accept and stocking our product.

    Objectives

    Increasing market share is the ultimate goal of any small business marketing plan. Small businesses enter their industries as the underdogs, taking any competitive advantages they can to gain customers from their established competitors. "Each company must find the game plan for long-run survival and growth that makes the most sense given its specific situation, opportunities, objectives, and resources. This is the focus of strategic planning—the process of developing and maintaining a strategic fit between the organization’s goals and capabilities and its changing marketing opportunities." as it says in Chapter 2. We would also need to track how many new customers there are. Even if it's just a simple system in place to ascertain whether each customer we serve during our marketing campaign is a new or existing customer and compare the new customer numbers each day during the campaign to gauge progress toward our goal.

    Keeping existing customers happily coming back is just as important as gaining new customers. "To create value for customers and to build meaningful relationships with them, marketers must first gain
    fresh, deep insights into what customers need and want. Companies use such customer insights to develop competitive advantage." as it says in Chapter 4.
    Market share can be gained temporarily with price promotions and grand opening sales, but the most effective marketing plans increase market share permanently.

    Sales growth is especially important for us, we can't afford to be experiencing too many problems over the next one to three years. "Examples of sales promotions are found everywhere. "A freestanding insert in the Sunday newspaper contains a coupon offering $1 off Pedigree GoodBites treats for your dog. An e-mail from LLBean.com offers free shipping on your next purchase over $100". as it says in chapter 13. Growing sales numbers is also going to be a main concern for us to have an eye on.

    The marketing department has a responsibility to keep costs as low as possible, contributing to bottom-line profitability in addition to income. Specific cost goals can be put in place to maximize the cost efficiency of sales promotions, public relations activities and some advertising, and generally ensuring that we get the most bang for our marketing buck.

    Business Mission Statement

    Phileas Fogg's Wasabi Sunflower Seeds is a spunky, imaginative food product aimed at offering high-quality, moderately priced, unusual, and delicious snack using only natural ingredients. We view ourselves as partners with our customers, our employees, our community and our environment. "New products are important—to both customers and the marketers who serve them. For customers, they bring new solutions and variety to their lives." as it states in Chapter 8. We aim to become a regionally recognized brand name, capitalizing on the sustained interest in any establishment selling alcohol. Our goal is moderate growth, annual profitability and maintaining our sense of humor.

    Final EOC: The Pitch

    Here is the pitch.

    You are at a bar, and the man next to you has a japanese beer along with some sushi and wasabi. You are sitting there with your american beer along with your sunflower seeds. While you pick up a few seeds, you drop a couple into your neighbor's wasabi. You apologize and carefully take the seeds out of his sauce. While looking at your seed, you can't help but try it out. It's amazing! You have never had this kind of experience before, and it compliments your drink too! WHAT A TIME IT IS TO BE ALIVE. The spiciness is amazing, but it goes away quickly enough so as to let you enjoy the taste of the seed.
